Thomas Reil is the President and fearless leader of the Waldo State Bank team! Thomas grew up in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and attended Glenbuelah High School where is was a proud “Mighty Resorter!”

Thomas earned his BBA in Finance from UW Oshkosh. Afterward, he attended UW Madison's Graduate School of Banking. Thomas pursued a career in banking because he "likes working with numbers and helping people figure stuff out.” Although Thomas’s career with Waldo State Bank began with a degree of uncertainty (he joined Waldo State Bank 12/31/99, just before the infamous Y2K “crisis”) he couldn’t resist the opportunity to move back home, be close to his family, raise his children, and take over management of the bank. “I wanted to get out of the corporate world and work in an environment where I could share input and impact the direction of the bank.”

Thomas says his favorite part of working at Waldo State Bank are his customers. “I enjoy sitting down and talking with them, getting to know them, establishing a relationship and helping them develop objective and strategies to meet their financial needs.” Thomas builds trust with his customers by leveraging his 35 years of experience and countless hours of seminars, webinars, and conferences to help steer them towards their goals.

Along with his role as Waldo State Bank’s President, Thomas is also a director of the Wisconsin Banker Association, an organization that supports banking related issues, advocacy, and develops training programs to unite all Wisconsin Banks for the betterment of their communities. He is also the Treasurer and 16-year board member of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous community organizations.

When asked why customers should choose Waldo State Bank, Thomas replied “We are a community bank. Serving our community is what we are all about. This show of quality and dedication is echoed in our tagline: Local. Independent. Like You. We take great pride in being locally owned and located in Waldo since 1913. We will continue to evolve as technology changes to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs.”

In between securing his customers’ financial futures and enriching his community, Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters, and the family’s pet dog, Tilly, and Goldfish, Tank.
