Homemade (Semi) PopTarts




Ingredients
- 1 Pie Crust – We used refrigerated, but use your pie crust of choice
- 1/3 – 1/2 c Jam – We recommend a high-quality jam, we used a locally resourced Strawberry Rhubarb homemade jam
- 1 Egg
- 2 T Cream Cheese – room temperature
- 2 T Butter - room temperature
- Splash of Vanilla
- Powder Sugar
- 1 – 2 T Milk
- Cinnamon for Sprinkling
To Prepare
Tart
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Roll out Pie crust.
- Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Top with Jam on 1/2 of crust staying about 1/2 inch from edge.
- Fold over and press edges with fork.
- Slightly beat egg in small bowl and bush over top of crust
- Bake for 15 – 18 minutes until the crust is lightly browned.
Frosting
- Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add powder sugar and milk until desired consistency.
- Spread over top.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
Refrigerate any leftovers.
Enjoy warm, room temperature, or straight from the refrigerator! There is no wrong way to enjoy this.
Also excellent topped with a scoop of ice cream!
