25 Years and It's Time to Golf! Tom w/ Rose Oswald Poels, President / CEO of WBA Tom with one of his personailzed cakes! Tom with another personalized cake!

Last week, CEO Tom Reil retired after 41 years of banking, 25 of those at Waldo State Bank. Throughout his career, Tom has touched the lives of many customers, employees, and local communities. He led through example, always going the extra mile.

Tom came from a time when a handshake meant more than a signed contract. When on-line account opening was first introduced, he made the comment "I want to know the customer, you can't do that through a piece of paper." To this day, WSB follows that philosophy - the customer is what banking is all about.

He became involved in the community - from joining multiple organizations through the years, to becoming the bank's grants writer to benefit local area businesses.

He never said no, he said "let's figure out how to do it."

On his last day, Tom received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Bankers Association - presented by Rose Oswald Poels, President / CEO of WBA - for his work with the WBA, Community Banks, and many customers over his 41-year career in banking. This recognition was celebrated with members of his family and the team at WSB.

The WSB team share their memories from working with Tom:

Sarah: "Tom always ended a meeting with a joke. It was the perfect way to transition and start the day"

Sherry: "For me, Tom gave me an opportunity that turned a job into a career that enhanced my life"

Waldo State Bank will miss Tom and all he brought to the team, and wishes him well on his next adventure!
