Safe Social Media Use
Social Media is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family. It also poses risks to users if they don't consider their security settings. SBS CyberSecurity provided two important tips on how to protect yourself on social media: security settings and privacy settings.
Security Settings
SBS states that property setting your security settings will help strengthen your defense online. Some important settings are:
- Multifactor authentication
- Complex password
- Configuring account recovery options
- A screen lock on your phone
Privacy Settings
Social media sites have two privacy setting options: public and private. Public posts on social media sites can be viewed by anyone logged onto the platform. Private settings limit access to people you approve through the platform.
Privacy may not be private
Security settings and privacy settings help but SBS cautions users that every post is not 100% protected.
